For a series of 20 locomotives in 1067 mm gauge for the Indonesian State Railway, VEB Lokomptivbau Babelsberg had a meter-gauge prototype built for testing. In February 1966 the vehicle reached the Harz Mountains and was taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1970. Since then it has been used primarily in construction train service. The locomotive was in use until 1997 and has been parked since then.
